Blair McCoy

Blair has worked in creative marketing for the film and television industry for over 30 yrs delivering award-winning marketing campaigns for branding, outdoor, trailers, consumer print, digital, on-air, publicity, and film festivals.
 
Starting with Susman Preja in 1984 while still a teenager, after college Blair joined Werndorf & Associates where she was the creative director on several dozen theatrical releases, including Clive Barker’s Hellraiser, Gus Van Sant’s My Own Private Idaho, Jim Jarmusch’s Night on Earth, John Singleton’s Poetic Justice and Robert Altman’s The Player.

While working at Fox for over 11 years -- ultimately serving as head of print advertising (“Vice President, Creative Director Print Advertising”) -- Blair contributed to the creative for tv-related theatrical releases (e.g., The X-Files, The Simpson’s Movie).

Prior to launching Authentik Creative Inc. (“ACI”) in 2015, Blair worked at boutique entertainment advertising agencies BD Fox and Friends, Crew Creative, The Arterie, and mOcean LA.

Through ACI, Blair has been responsible for highly praised Key Art and marketing campaigns for My Name is Pauli Murray, Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool, Summertime, Tyrel, The Descendent, Crypto, This Changes Everything, Mr. Soul, Always at the Carlysle, Dying Laughing, and Oliver Stone’s A Good American. She been responsible for key art and other marketing materials for theatrical releases for indie and major studios including The Walt Disney Company, 20th Century Studios, Amazon Studios, Participant Media, Orion, Good Deed Entertainment, Comedy Dynamics, Universal, Warner Bros, Netflix, CNN Films, and AMC/Shudder.

During her career, Blair has been awarded Key Art, Promax, Golden Trailer, BDA and Fantasia and FrightFest awards for her theatrical campaigns including those for The Lorax, Hotel Transylvania, Despicable Me, The Minions, The Purge, Nightmare Cinema, Sex and the City: The Movie, and most recently, The Last Thing Mary Saw.

Her life-long love of movies has driven her career choices. During the course of her career, Blair has contributed creatively, if not led the creative team, on the marketing creative for over 300 films. She also was the lead creative for all Academy collateral from 2013-2015.

Blair was a consulting producer and uncredited editor, and also created all of the art and marketing materials for the 2020 documentary on her uncle, Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool.

Blair has also been active in the community providing creative services for various nonprofits, including the Poor People’s Campaign, AIDS Healthcare Foundation Global Fund, Alliance for Children’s Rights, and R2 Cure (Lymphoma Research Foundation). She has also been a guest speaker for college courses on the entertainment industry, and has mentored dozens of young creative artists getting their start professionally.
