Inspired by the Greenwood community of Tulsa, Oklahoma, The Greenwood Standard, was founded in 2020, amid a backdrop of social unrest and increasing calls for socioeconomic equality, within the African American community. Our goal is to create a digital space for socially conscious consumers where they can connect with and support Black-owned merchants and makers.
When we Spend with Intention™, we empower not only the businesses we support, but also the communities they serve. African Americans represent $1.4 trillion dollars in buying power. However, money spent in the African American community circulates only one time, compared to six times in Latino communities and nine times in Asian communities. Money circulation is critical to a community’s potential for economic mobility. The longer money is allowed to circulate in a community, the greater the financial stability and potential for economic growth.
from the Greenwood Standard will go toward creating
entrepreneurial training and support programs, to encourage the creation of even more Black-owned
businesses. Join us as we reimagine Black Wall Street for the digital age. Through economic
empowerment, we can start gaining financial independence so that we can take care of ourselves, our
families, and our communities for generations to come.
